New Delhi:  Arsenal produced a sensational second-half performance to blow Tottenham away in the North London derby and reignite the title hopes in the Premier League. With Manchester City breathing down their neck, the Gunners bounced back strongly and made a strong statement in a high-pressure match, beating their city rivals 4-1 and restoring a five-point lead at the top.

After successive draws and a Spurs equaliser through Kolo Mauni 10 minutes before half-time brought back haunted memories of bottling the advantage in previous seasons, Arsenal gave themselves a much-needed breathing space courtesy of a brace each from Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyokeres, which helped them register their biggest league win at Tottenham since a 5-0 victory in 1978.

Courtesy of the impressive win, Arsenal have 61 points from 28 games, five more than City, who beat Newcastle United on Saturday to crank up the heat, on 56 points with one fewer game played.

Elsewhere, reigning champions Liverpool boosted their top-four chances with a dramatic last-gasp winner at relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest.

Mac Allister lifts scrappy Reds

Midfielder Alexis Mac Allister scored a scrappy late winner in the 97th minute shortly after having a goal disallowed minutes before.

The thrilling win took Liverpool to sixth in the table, level on 45 points with Chelsea and Manchester United, who are fourth and fifth respectively. Meanwhile, Forest sit 17th on 27 points, two above the relegation zone.

In Sunday’s other games, Crystal Palace recorded a 1-0 win over rock-bottom 10-man Wolverhampton Wanderers, who played with 10 men for more than 30 minutes after Ladislav Krejci was sent off for picking up two yellow cards.

Evann Guessand scored the winner for Palace in the 90th minute, taking his side to 13th in the table.

Meanwhile, Raul Jimenez netted a brace as Fulham won 3-1 at Sunderland to move into the top half of the table.
