Rob Reiner death case: The tragic case surrounding the deaths of acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, took a significant turn on Monday (February 23). Their accused son, Nick Reiner, pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder.
According to AP, the 32-year-old entered his plea through Deputy Public Defender Kimberly Greene during a packed hearing in a Los Angeles courtroom. Nick stood behind glass in an enclosed custody area, his head shaved and dressed in brown jail clothing. He spoke only briefly to confirm his response to the judge.

Authorities reported that Rob Reiner, 78, and Michele Singer Reiner, 70, died from “multiple sharp force injuries,” as per initial findings from the LA County Medical Examiner. Officials believe the couple were killed hours before their bodies were discovered.
The judge ordered Nick Reiner to return to court on April 29, when a preliminary hearing will be scheduled. At that stage, prosecutors will present evidence and a judge will determine whether the case should proceed to trial. Outside the courtroom, District Attorney Nathan Hochman confirmed that his office has not yet decided whether to pursue the death penalty.

A court order currently restricts the release of additional details. Authorities have not commented on any possible motive.
Nick’s previous attorney, high-profile lawyer Alan Jackson, withdrew from the case in January, citing circumstances beyond his control. While unable to disclose specifics due to legal ethics, Jackson had publicly stated, “pursuant to the laws of California, Nick Reiner is not guilty of murder.”
The case has deeply shaken Hollywood. Rob Reiner was known for directing iconic films such as This Is Spinal Tap, Stand By Me, A Few Good Men and When Harry Met Sally…. He met Michele Singer during the production of the latter and married her soon after.
