The Union Cabinet on Tuesday approved a proposal to rename Kerala as ‘Keralam’. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the demand had existed since the state’s formation on linguistic lines, with calls to adopt ‘Keralam’ as its official name. The Cabinet has now cleared the proposal.
