During the hearing in the court, senior lawyer Sajjan Poovayya, appearing on behalf of actor Ranveer Singh, said that the actor had expressed regret over that statement. However, the bench made strong remarks on the responsibility of public figures. Referring to Shetty’s role of Chamundi Devta in the film, the court said that whether Ranveer knew the context or not, he should not have behaved insensitively. Ranveer may be a superstar, but this was not expected from him, who has the power to influence people. The court said that artists should understand the meaning of their words before speaking.
