In this regard, scientists have recently taken a revolutionary step.
In fact, scientists have created an AI model that can predict the risk of 130 diseases and death in the future by analyzing the data of just one night's sleep. Yes, that means now one night's sleep will not only remove fatigue, but it can also become a mirror of your future, the credit for which goes to AI.
What is 'Sleep FM' model?
According to a recent research published in the journal 'Nature Medicine', this AI model has been named 'SleepFM'. It has been prepared jointly by scientists from America's Stanford University and many other prestigious institutions. The biggest feature of this model is its accuracy. During testing, its accuracy on C-index was found to be more than 0.75, which simply means that more than 75% of its predictions were correct.

How does this system work?
This AI model works on the basis of polysomnography (PSG) data. PSG is a detailed sleep study, trained on more than 5.85 lakh hours of records from 65 thousand people from Stanford's Sleep Clinic.
According to Professor Emmanuel Mignot, senior author of the research, during sleep a person is in complete control and his body gives many signals. The AI model understands the hidden physiology of sleep mainly by collecting four types of data-
- brain activity- Through EEG and EOG
- heartbeat- Through ECG or EKG
- Muscle activity- Through EMG
- Signs related to breathing- Based on breathing patterns and signals changing over time.
Identification and accuracy of major diseases
Researchers studied health records of more than 1,000 categories of diseases, of which 130 diseases were identified by the AI with high accuracy, with a score of 0.81 meaning that the AI got it right 8 times out of 10.
| disease/risk | C-Index Score (Accuracy) |
| breast cancer | 0.89 |
| Dementia (amnesia) | 0.85 |
| risk of death | 0.84 |
| heart attack | 0.81 |
| heart failure | 0.80 |
| kidney disease | 0.79 |
| stroke | 0.78 |
