New Delhi: Delhi recorded temperatures above normal on Wednesday. The maximum temperature on the day was 30.2 degrees Celsius, which is 4.1 degrees above normal, said the weather department. According to the India Meteorological Department, there will be no major changes in temperatures for the next 2 days.

The maximum temperature may increase by one or 2 degrees Celsius for the next 5 days from February 28 and thereafter by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius, said the IMD.

High temperatures prevail in Delhi

According to a report in Jagran, Delhi witnessed high temperatures on Wednesday. The temperature in the Ridge area was recorded at 30.5 degrees Celsius. It was 30.2 degrees Celsius in Lodhi Road and Safdarjung observatories, 30 degrees Celsius in Ayanagar and 27.8 degrees Celsius in Palam.

Meanwhile, the minimum temperature was 12.6 degrees Celsius in Safdarjung, 13.8 degrees Celsius in Palam, 12.4 degrees Celsius in Lodhi Road, 14.8 degrees Celsius in Ridge area and 12.5 degrees Celsius in Ayanagar, said the IMD.

The weather department has predicted that the maximum temperature on Thursday will be 31 degrees Celsius. There are chances of fog at several places in the morning. The wind speed is expected to be 20 kilometres per hour, they added.

AQI to remain poor on Thursday

The Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 228 in Delhi, which continued to remain in the poor category. According to the SAMEER app of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Anand Vihar was the most polluted on Wednesday evening. The AQI was 326, which is ‘Very Poor’.

Twenty-six pollution monitoring stations recorded AQI in the poor category, while 11 recorded it as ‘Moderate’.
