River Island has been loved by many for years as a stalwart of the British high street. As a fashion content creator and writer it's always been on my radar, but never more so than this season.

Dare I say it, the brand has blossomed just in time for spring, and now I'm ready to ditch the coats and boots in favour of something a little more fun. As a neutrals lover I've been especially impressed with the key staple pieces in the brand's new range that form the perfect base for any spring capsule wardrobe.

One of my favourite designs is the £59 Pink Funnel Neck Bubble Hem Bomber Jacket which cleverly marries two of this season's hottest trends; a funnel neck and a candy pink hue. Perfect for wearing with jeans or white wide leg trousers for a fresh spring look, it can also be teamed withthe matching skortto take wearers from day to night.

I love the practicality of a shorts/skirt hybrid for breezy days, but I can't see this set hanging around for long as it's already sold out in a couple of sizes. I also think the £54 Blue Seamed Denim Jacket could easily be dressed up or down thanks to the cinched waist design, making it a versatile spring option that should give buyers the maximum cost per wear.

I am partial to a pastel or two as well so when I spotted the £42 Blue Linen Blend Scallop Wide Leg Trousersand the £64 Yellow Batwing Low Belt Bomber Jacket, they immediately went to the top of my wishlist. I love items that can be worn a variety of ways and River Island's new season edit features buys that could be styled as easily for the office as they could for bottomless brunch and weekend plans, simply by changing a few details.

Another thing I enjoy about shopping at River Island is that most of the items come up true to size, which is not something that can be said for every high street retailer. As a UK size 12, I know I can try on a pair of trousers and usually don't need to bring multiple sizes in to the fitting room which I appreciate.

Other retailers with great new spring ranges include M&S. I've got my eye on the £56 Suede Loafers and the Linen Rich Drawstring Trousers for £28, both of which would look great styled with a white t-shirt for the season ahead. Over at New Look there's also a a variety of spring buys to be snapped up including this dreamy £21 on sale coat that's 70% off.

I've previously shared why I love River Island's staple denim including the newly launched £29 jeans, and the fashion retailer is fast becoming a go-to for various styles. I tried on a few pairs recently in store and was wowed by the fit of one particular pair of jeans I'd never normally have thought would suit me if I saw them on the hanger.

The £49 Blue Baggy Wide Leg Jeans were an instant hit, thanks to their lighter blue wash and wider fit that doesn't drown me. It isn't just casual looks I fell in love with either, as the super reasonably priced £36 Stretch Drape Midi Dresswould make an ideal budget-friendly wedding guest dress, and this £39 boho style White Poplin Long Sleeve Cutwork Shirt could be worn alone or with a white vest underneath to dress up all manner of bottoms.

One drawback with shopping online at River Island is that the website currently doesn't carry reviews, which makes it tricky to get feedback from customers about length, shapes and the feel of the material, however the brand does usually offer care label and a decent amount of product information on its listings.

Co-ords are always a hard-working option for those 'don't know what to wear' days as they form a complete outfit but also have the ability to be worn alone with other items shoppers already own. One standout for me is the £26 Cream Textured Knot Front Topwhich can be paired with the matching trousers at £32.

In my eyes it's the perfect airport outfit for any spring holidays teamed with a jacket and trainers, but also could be dressed up with heels. I love the tie detailing on the top which would be flattering around the tummy, and it's also available in multiple other colours including pink, brown and green.
