This Morning, star Michelle Elman has issued a major health update after undergoing emergency surgery for an ongoing health battle. On Thursday (February 26), the presenter revealed to fans that she had "broken out" of the hospital just days after being admitted due to her ongoing battle with Hydrocephalus. The 33-year-old was born with the condition, which, according to the NHS, is a build-up of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain. At the time, doctors discovered that she was also born with a brain tumour.

Michelle's ability to leave her hospital bed comes after making a worrying death admission and telling her followers on Instagram, "I'm not sure I'll make it out of this." In a new post, Michelle told fans that she has managed to "break out," and revealed she was enjoying some much-needed time at home and said she would be doing her best to "stay out".

Alongside a selfie of her eyes closed, embracing the sunshine, Michelle penned: "She's broken out of the hospital. Now, to actually try and stay out of the hospital. Need to be back on Monday and Tuesday, but I'm just glad not to have the injections twice a day."

Earlier this week, the ITV star announced that she had been taken into hospital for surgery, just weeks after a complex procedure to fix "broken tubes" in her brain, undergoing her 19th operation as part of five months of ongoing surgeries.

On Monday (February 23), the author issued a worrying statement about her mortality after asking fans to "Excuse my morbid mindset. It's been five months of this [surgeries], and I think if I've learnt anything, it's that living a long life is overrated.

"There have been multiple moments where I've been near death or emergency surgeries, and the last thing I said to my best friend, my dad, my sister, whoever's been out here before I've gone into surgery, is I don't want to live if I can't do the things I love."

In the emotional post, the 33-year-old continued: "I want my brain and my body to work, and if I'm confined to a hospital bed, I don't want it, and if this is all the time I have left, then I am happy with that.

"Frankly, I've had more time than I ever thought I would get because I thought I wouldn't be here past the age of 21." Michelle then admitted she's unsure if she'll "make it out of this".

According to the NHS, Hydrocephalus can usually be treated using a thin tube (shunt) that's surgically implanted in the brain and drains away the excess fluid. However, if left untreated, the condition, which causes headache, being sick, blurred vision and difficulty walking, can be fatal.
