According to a report published on February 26, 2026, those whose refund claims were previously rejected or whose applications were found to be deficient have been allowed to reapply. Eligible investors can now resubmit claims up to ₹10 lakh. According to the report, the refund process has been reactivated for investors in Sahara India Pariwar's cooperative societies. This entire system is being operated through the CRCS Sahara Refund Portal, operated under the Ministry of Cooperation.

This facility is available to eligible investors who invested in Sahara Credit Cooperative Society Limited, Saharayan Universal Multipurpose Society Limited, Hamara India Credit Cooperative Society Limited, and Stars Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited. Those whose applications were previously rejected or whose documents were incomplete can now resubmit their claims.

Claims up to ₹10 lakh allowed

Previously, the refund limit was lower, but now claims up to ₹10 lakh are being accepted in a phased manner. In the initial phase, settlements up to ₹50,000 have been made, and eligible investors are expected to receive the first installment from March 2026.

How to Receive the Money
Refunds will be deposited directly into bank accounts. Login is required by entering a one-time password through your Aadhaar-linked mobile number. Uploading investment certificates and filling in bank details is mandatory. Downloading a receipt after submitting the application is mandatory.

Required Documents
Investment certificates, Aadhaar number, and Aadhaar-linked bank account details are mandatory. Claims will only be accepted online. Applications submitted through an agent or offline will not be accepted.

Processing within 45 working days
The target is to settle claims within 45 working days. Any deficiencies in the application will be notified via text message, and an opportunity to correct and resubmit will be provided.

Processing initiated after a Supreme Court order
This entire refund system was initiated following a 2023 Supreme Court order. Under this scheme, funds are being transferred from the Sahara account held by SEBI. According to the latest information, approximately ₹8,429 crore has been returned to over 3.9 million investors so far, while total claims are estimated to exceed ₹97,000 crore. The deadline has been extended to December 31, 2026.

Warning for investors
The government has clarified that only claims made through the official portal will be valid. People are advised to be wary of fraudulent agents or those demanding fees. If you invested in a Sahara cooperative, check your claim status as soon as possible and reapply if necessary.
