India Face Do-or-Die Eden Clash
Rinku Singh’s role as a lower-order finisher has restricted his impact in the tournament so far. With limited deliveries to face, he has managed just 24 runs in five innings, with a highest score of 11* and an average of 8.00. For the Super 8 clash against Zimbabwe on February 26, team management reshuffled the XI, bringing in Sanju Samson for better balance.
Samson scored a brisk 24 off 15 balls, including two sixes, while also taking over wicketkeeping duties. India went on to seal a commanding 72-run win in Chennai.
Now, the March 1 clash against West Indies at Eden Gardens is a virtual quarter-final. Both teams sit on two points. A win sends India to the semis, a loss eliminates them, while a washout would favor West Indies due to their superior net run rate.
