Khan Chand Singh, father of Indian cricketer Rinku Singh, passed away on Friday (27 February) morning. He was suffering from serious liver cancer for a long time. It is being told that he was suffering from fourth stage liver cancer and his condition had remained critical for the last few days. On February 21, when his health deteriorated, he was admitted to the private hospital Yatharth in Greater Noida, where he was kept on ventilator support.
According to the hospital, he breathed his last at around 4:36 am on Friday. As soon as the news of his demise was received, a wave of mourning ran in the family. His death was officially confirmed at around 5 in the morning. After this the family took his mortal remains and left for home.
As soon as he got information about his father’s health deteriorating, Rinku Singh left Team India and immediately returned home. At that time he was involved in a practice session with the team in Chennai. During the T20 World Cup, he had to leave the team’s practice and come to his family.
After fulfilling family responsibilities, Rinku returned to Chennai again on 25 February and joined the team. However, he was not a part of the playing eleven in the Super-8 match played against Zimbabwe on 26 February and remained present with the team as a substitute player.
Rinku Singh has five brothers in his family and his father used to work in cylinder delivery. The financial condition of the family was not strong, so all the brothers used to help their father. They used to deliver gas cylinders to homes and hotels by keeping two cylinders each on the bike.
He had to struggle a lot even to play cricket. The ball was bought by collecting money with friends from the locality. Today Rinku Singh is a big name in Indian cricket, but his father’s struggle and sacrifice were important behind his success. There is a wave of mourning in the family and sports world due to his demise.
