Phu Quoc, voted Asia’s most beautiful island by readers of Condé Nast Traveler, was one of top 10 trending destinations for Australian tourists this year, according to data from American online travel agency Expedia.



The island ranked fourth with a 65% year-on-year increase in searches after Vietnam’s Nha Trang, Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur and Palau, based on searches made on Expedia.com.au from December 2024 to November 2025.


Kos in Greece, Mallorca in Spain and Nadi in Fiji also ranked among the top 10.


Data from Expedia also revealed Phu Quoc ranked third in a list of 10 trending destinations Kiwis fly to this year with a 120% year-on-year search increase.


Known for its long, sandy beaches and luxury resorts, Phu Quoc is a popular destination for international travelers.


The Vietnam’s largest island received a record number of 8.1 million tourists including 1.8 million foreign arrivals in 2025.


During the nine-day Tet holidays from Feb. 14-21, it attracted 366,000 visitors, up 30% from last year.


The island expects to receive 8.5 million tourists this year, up 5% from last year, including two million foreigners, an 11% increase.
