New Delhi: The addiction to reels mounted the obsession to make the videos in the police force uniform, putting six newly recruited officers into trouble as they created reels in the uniform.

The six constables were in the Police Training School (PTS) in Rewa for their training. However, they shot a reel in full police uniform and also spoke several dialogues that went viral on social media, triggering disciplinary action.

“So what if I don’t look good? At least I have a government job. So what if I don’t have money? I get a monthly salary. So what if I don’t have clothes? At least I have a uniform,” the constables were seen mouthing these dialogues in a defiant tone.

The video immediately snowballed into a controversy over discipline in the force. They posted the video on social media on February 25 via a group named ‘Mtiyamet Group’ on X. Within just five hours, the video crossed 5,000 views, drawing criticism online and harming the department’s image.

With the controversy escalating rapidly, the Police Headquarters (PHQ), Bhopal, instructed the trainees not to shoot videos in police uniform. During the training, instructors repeatedly warned the officers to avoid these actions.

The six recruits were identified as Anil (Dewas), Anand (Indore), Pradeep Yadav (Ujjain), Rajkumar (Ujjain), Gonu (Ujjain), and Surjeet (Vidisha).

Senior officers intervene

After the video went viral and circulated widely, the senior officials had to intervene in the matter as Superintendent of Police, Police Training School Rewa, Surendra Kumar Jain, issued a notice to the six trainees.

“The dignity of the police department has been tarnished by your spoken dialogue. Why should action not be taken against you?” the notice read.

The senior officials asked them to give a written explanation for their actions and warned of strict disciplinary action if their explanation remained unsatisfactory.
