According to astrology, the conjunction of Bhadra occurs only on some special dates like Saptami and Chaturdashi tithi of Krishna Paksha and Ashtami and Purnima tithi of Shukla Paksha. The festival of Holika Dahan is celebrated on the full moon date of Phalgun month, hence the coincidence of Bhadra occurs at this time every year. Burning of Holika is prohibited in Bhadra. In special circumstances, Holika Dahan can be performed during the tail period of Bhadra.
Astrologers are of the opinion that the auspicious time of Holika Dahan is more important than the auspicious time of any other festival because if the puja of other festivals is not done at the appropriate time, then only the puja will not get the benefit, but if Holika Dahan is done at the wrong time then it is like inviting bad luck. Burning Holika in Bhadra has a bad effect on the country, the world and the society.
On Tuesday, March 2, Bhadra will start from 5:56 pm, which will continue till March 3, Tuesday, at 05:28 am. The tail period of Bhadra will start from 12:50 am on the intervening night of 2-3 March and will last till 02:32 am. This is the best time for Holika Dahan.
