In view of the huge crowd of passengers going home on the holy festival of Holi, the transport department has come into full action mode. Strict guidelines have been issued for AC and non-AC bus operators. Now, in case of any accident or violation of rules, not only the driver but also the bus owner will be held equally responsible. In such a situation, FIR will be registered against both of them.

Strict security arrangements

New safety standards have been implemented in buses to ensure the safety of passengers. It has been made mandatory to have two fire extinguishers of 10 kg each in every bus. One fire extinguisher should be near the driver at the front and the other at the rear of the bus.

Apart from this, it has been made mandatory to have two drivers in long distance AC buses. This step has been taken to prevent accidents due to fatigue or sleep.

strictness on drunk driving

The department has adopted a zero tolerance policy against drunk driving during the festival. If a driver is caught in a drunken state, action will be taken against him as well as the bus owner. Owners have been instructed to keep a close watch on their staff and ensure safe driving.

If you charge more fare then serious action will be taken

Complaints about arbitrary fare charging by private bus operators are common during festivals. This time the department has made it clear that strict action will be taken if even one rupee more than the prescribed fare is charged. If the complaint is found to be true, the driver’s license and bus registration (RC) may be immediately suspended.
