There's great news for young people dreaming of a job in the Railways. The last date for applications for 21,997 posts under the RRB Group D Recruitment 2026 has been extended. Candidates can now fill out the online form until March 9, 2026, at 11:59 pm. Previously, the last date was March 2. The fee submission deadline has also been extended to March 11. Candidates who haven't yet applied have another chance. Interested candidates can apply immediately by visiting the official website, www.rrbapply.gov.in.


How many posts and which zone have the most vacancies?


A total of 21,997 posts will be filled in this recruitment drive. The highest number of vacancies, 3,537, is in Northern Railway (New Delhi), followed by 3,148 in Western Railway (Mumbai), and 2,012 in Central Railway (Mumbai). Almost all major zones have significant recruitment. Candidates can apply for only one railway zone.

• Last date for online application: March 9, 2026


• Last date for fee submission: March 11, 2026


• Form correction window: March 12 to March 21, 2026


• Once the zone is selected, it cannot be changed.


Who can apply?


Candidates must be between 18 and 33 years of age as of January 1, 2026.


• 3-year age relaxation for OBCs


• 5-year age relaxation for SC/STs


What will the selection process be like?


Selection will be conducted in three stages:


1. Computer-Based Test (CBT) - 100 questions, 90 minutes


2. Physical Test (PET)


3. Document Verification and Medical


There will be a negative marking of one-third marks for incorrect answers in the CBT.


Physical Test Requirements


Male candidates:


• 100 meters with a 35 kg weight, in 2 minutes


• 1000-meter run in 4 minutes 15 seconds


Female candidates:


• 100 meters with a 20 kg weight, in 2 minutes


• 1000-meter run in 5 minutes 40 seconds


Salary and Fees


Selected candidates will receive a monthly salary of ₹18,000 under Level 1.


• General/OBC/EWS: ₹500 fee (₹400 refunded if CBT is passed)


• SC/ST/Women: ₹250 fee (full refund if CBT is passed)
