On Tuesday night (March 4), BBC's Silent Witness concluded its 29th series as viewers watched a dramatic episode unfold. Fan-favourite Dr Nikki Alexander (Emilia Fox) found herself in grave danger after she was drugged.
However, as the team worked out where she was being held, Jack Hodgkins (David Caves) managed to save his wife and get her back to safety.
The BBC series ended well for all, although fans were keen to see what would happen next for the team, following speculation that actor David Caves could be bowing out of the show.
Following the show's conclusion, it was confirmed that Silent Witness will return again for a 30th series next year.
Sharing a post on Instagram, they wrote: "#SilentWitness will return next year for its 30th Series!"
It wasn't long before people commented on the news, with many thrilled with the announcement, as one person said: "Brilliant, it's confirmed."
Someone else commented: "The countdown has begun!!" While another wrote: "Already counting down the months."
One fan added: "The best possible news after that finale. Roll on Series 30." As someone else shared: "Best thing on TV when it's on."

Although it's not yet known which cast members will be returning, David Caves shared a post after the programme ended on Tuesday night, hinting that the regular cast would be making a comeback.
On X, he said: "Can't believe that's it for another series. To everyone who has watched and supported - thank you! Here's to the stories we've told - and to those still to come..."
The BBC star then tagged his co-stars Emilia, Francesca Mills and Maggie Steed, suggesting they'll all be seen in series 30.
Last month, Bodenham Arboretum revealed that the show had been filming at their location for series 30, before it had been officially confirmed by the BBC.
Sharing an image with Emilia Fox on Instagram, they told followers they had the privilege of being chosen as Silent Witness's base camp while it was filming for series 30.
They wrote: "Staff couldn't hide their delight when actress Emelia Fox, who plays pathologist Dr Nikki Alexander, popped into the Visitor Centre to say goodbye and happily obliged with a photocall.
"What a pleasure it has been! The new series will be screened in January next year...watch out for the local landmarks!"
Silent Witness is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
