New Delhi: Classical England spinner Adil Rashid completed an unwanted milestone during the T20 World Cup 2026 semifinal match against India on Thursday. After India were invited to bat first by the English side in a do or die encounter, the Men in Blue roared in style at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai as the batters exhibited flawless hitting skills to dominate in the game.

India and England are both fighting for a place in the finale against New Zealand in Ahmedabad on Sunday. This is their third consecutive semifinal meeting at the ICC T20 spectacle.

Rashid only bowler to concede 200-plus sixes in T20Is

By virtue of their big hitting, which included scores of sixes as well, Rashid completed an unwanted record of becoming the first bowler in world cricket to concede 200-plus maximums in the T20 internationals. Rashid, who proved to be expensive in his four-over spell giving away 41 runs, claimed the wickets of Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav.

Rashid was instrumental in breaking the 97-run lethal stand between Samson and Kishan, both of whom made notable contributions in the game. While Samson scored 89 runs off just 42 balls, bringing up a successive half-century after multiple failures, Ishan scored 39 runs off just 18 balls to put the hosts in command.

Shivam Dube, who smashed 3 sixes off Rashid in the match, created the record of hitting most sixes by a batter against the English spinner in a single T20 match.
