Igor Tudor insisted he has “more belief” Tottenham will beat the drop even after the fans turned on their own team.

Tottenham were humiliated by Crystal Palace after stand-in skipper Micky van de Ven was sent off to leave them just one point above the relegation zone.

Thousands of fans walked out at half time, stewards had to hold others back with the stadium as they screamed abuse at the club hierarchy in the directors’ box and club analysts in the stands.

It made a record of 11 games without a win in the Premier League and interim boss Tudor has lost all three games in charge while conceding nine goals during his brief stint.

Tudor said: “It sounds strange but I believe more after this game than before. I saw something, I need to choose the right guys.

"Who is in the boat can stay the others can leave the boat. When the others come back I am sure we have a good team.

“I want to be positive because I cannot tell them nothing after this. They gave everything. With all the problems we have missing defenders, missing full backs, don’t want to speak about that but we need to stay together. It’s about believing and growing. Still nine games to play.”

Tudor also insisted he understood the fans who walked out and those who turned on the players.

“Understand the fans, it’s normal to happen in football. They’re disappointed, they wanted more. We’re away. This is the moment one red card changed everything,” said Tudor.

It has been a disastrous start for Tudor who refused to talk about whether he expected to remain in charge. He added: “No comment on that question. I don’t think in that direction. I have my job to do and that’s all.”

Palace boss Oliver Glasner praised his players and joked about Ismaila Sarr being denied a goal by a VAR offside decision.

Two-goal hero Sarr had the ball in the net to make it 1-0 but the video replay showed his nose was offside. Glasner said: “I’ve told him his nose was too long!

"I was very happy with the players and the way they reacted after we went behind. It was a brilliant performance.”
