PM Modi also said that the historic India-European Union Free Trade Agreement signed earlier this year will further strengthen trade, investment and technology cooperation between India and Finland. The two leaders held detailed talks at Hyderabad House in the National Capital, where they talked about ways to enhance cooperation across multiple sectors and deepen economic engagement between the two countries. Prime Minister Modi said, “As early as 2026, a historic India-European Union Free Trade Agreement was signed. This agreement will further strengthen trade, investment and technology cooperation between India and Finland.” According to the Ministry of External Affairs, many issues were discussed in the talks, the aim of which was to increase bilateral cooperation and strengthen strategic relations. The two sides also shared their views on regional and global development and discussed cooperation in multilateral forums. After the talks, Prime Minister Modi also hosted a lunch in President Stubb’s honour. Earlier in the day, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met the President of Finland and discussed bilateral relations ahead of the high-level meeting with the Prime Minister. EAM Jaishankar said he is also looking forward to President Stubb’s speech at the Raisina Dialogue, where the visiting leader is scheduled to deliver the keynote address.
