Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson has been fined a huge fine of Rs 24 lakh for slow over rate during the Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Gujarat Titans. Gujarat Titans won this match played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad by 58 runs.


Rajasthan Royals, chasing the target of 218 runs, were all out for 159 runs in 19.2 overs. “Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson has been penalized for maintaining a slow over-rate during the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad,” the IPL said in a statement.


According to the statement, “Under Section 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, this was his team’s second offense this season to slow over-rate, hence Samson has been fined Rs 24 lakh.”


“The impact players, including other players in the playing eleven, have been fined Rs 6 lakh or 25 per cent of their match fee, whichever is less,” the statement said. Gujarat Titans are currently on top of the table with four wins and one loss in five matches, while Rajasthan Royals are in seventh place with two wins and three losses in five matches.
