New Delhi. The final of India vs New Zealand T20 World Cup 2026 is to be played on Sunday, March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Indian team is fully prepared to defend its title, although the fans are a little nervous due to the suffering this ground has given them. Since the 2023 World Cup, India has lost only two matches in ICC events. One is the 2023 World Cup final against Australia and one is the Super-8 match against South Africa in the 2026 T20 World Cup. The sad thing is that Team India has lost both these matches at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The pitch here does not suit Indian players in ICC events. In such a situation, it remains to be seen what kind of pitch will be used in the IND vs NZ final. Will fans’ hearts be broken this time too?

How will be the pitch of Narendra Modi Stadium in IND vs NZ final?

According to a report, the Indian team will be given a mixed clay pitch at the Narendra Modi Stadium for the final match of the ICC T20 World Cup against New Zealand. However, it has more red soil than black soil. Due to the high percentage of red soil, the ball comes easily on the bat in both the innings and also gets good bounce. This would be the same pitch on which South Africa played against Canada in their league game and scored 213 for 5, while Canada ended their innings at 156/8.

The reason for choosing this wicket, which has more red soil than black soil, is that India has a past history of losing two important matches. India lost to Australia in the 50-over 2023 World Cup final on a black soil pitch, which makes the track slow, as seen on November 19, 2023, with Indian batsmen struggling to get off to starts. There is still sadness throughout the country.

The source said, “The Indian team will be offered a mixed-soil pitch at the Narendra Modi Stadium for the final. It will be a sporting pitch where there will be no unnecessary advantage. The presence of more red soil on this track means that there will be some bounce and the batsmen will also benefit.”

India was not happy with the pitch during the league matches

India’s team management was not happy with some of the pitches offered during the league games. He had expressed his displeasure to the local curator. This was one of the reasons why the Indian Board had decided to send its staff to talk to the local curator about preparing the pitch.
