Drake recently shared a heartfelt tribute to his father, Dennis Graham, posting a throwback clip in which his father spoke about recognizing his son’s special talent at a young age.

In the interview clip, Dennis Graham expressed pride in his son’s achievements, saying he often tells people how proud he is of Drake, whose real name is Aubrey Drake Graham.

“I always say that. I always tell people, ‘That’s my son,’” Dennis said, adding that although people already know about their relationship, he never misses an opportunity to express his pride.

When asked whether he knew Drake would become such a huge star while he was growing up, Dennis admitted that while he did not expect his son to become one of the biggest stars in the world, he always believed he was destined for something special.

“I knew he was going to be something. I didn’t know he was going to be the biggest star in the world, but I knew he was going to be something special,” he said.

Dennis also recalled a childhood memory that stood out to him. According to him, when Drake was around five years old, he was sitting in the back seat of his car while Dennis was playing a song he had written.

During the drive, the young Drake began singing the melody along with the music, even though he had never heard the song before.

Dennis said he turned around and asked his son whether he already knew the song. Drake replied that he was simply following the melody his father was playing and he matched every note perfectly.

Despite the light-hearted tribute, the relationship between the two has faced challenges in the past. In 2019, the “Energy” hitmaker publicly expressed that he was hurt after Dennis suggested in an interview that Drake had exaggerated stories about having an absentee father because “it sells records.”

The moment sparked public discussion at the time, though both father and son have continued to show appreciation for each other over the years.
