Second Pradosh Vrat March: Chaitra month has started from 4th March. Chaitra month has great importance in Sanatan Dharma. Many big and important fasts and festivals come in this new month. One of these is Pradosh Vrat. Pradosh fast is considered to have special significance for Shiva devotees.

When is the second Pradosh fast of March?


According to the Panchang, the second Pradosh Vrat in March 2026 is falling on Monday, March 16. Trayodashi Tithi will start on 16th at 9.41 am. It will end on March 17 at 9:24 am. In such a situation, the fast will be observed on March 16 only. Since Trayodashi fast is observed on Monday, it will be called Som Pradosh fast.

  • Morning Evening – From 5.34 am to 6.46 am

  • Timing of Som Pradosh Vrat Puja – 6:37 pm to 8:44 pm. at this time

Importance of Pradosh Vrat


Trayodashi date is considered very fruitful from spiritual point of view. On this day, there is a tradition to worship Shiva during Pradosh period. It is believed that observing fast on this day brings happiness and peace in married life and gives happiness to children. It is told in the scriptures of Sanatan Dharma that offering water, milk and Belpatra on Shivling during Pradosh period gives very auspicious results. It is said that observing this fast also results in healthy and long life.

  • Wake up early in the morning, take bath and take a pledge to fast with folded hands in front of Lord Shiva.

  • Clean the home temple and install the idol of Lord Shiva-Parvati.

  • During Pradosh period, worship Mahadev duly by offering Belpatra, Dhatura, hemp, white flowers and raw cow’s milk.

  • ‘Om Namah Shivay’ chanting, Shiv Chalisa And recite Pradosh Vrat Katha.

  • In the end, perform aarti with a ghee lamp and apologize for any unintentional mistake.
