Ishan Kishan is known for his witty nature, and the same was caught on camera during the final match of the 2026 Men's T20 World Cup at Ahmedabad. On March 8, at the Narendra Modi Stadium, when India was defending a huge total of 255 against New Zealand, the crowd started chanting, "Ishan ko bowling do" ("Give the ball to Ishan"). Ishan Kishan was fielding at the boundary when this happened.
Hearing that, he called his captain, Suryakumar Yadav, and pointed at the crowd hilariously begging for an over. He was even mimicking his bowling action; however, he did not get to bowl any over.

Even though Ishan was not given to spinning his wrist, Abhishek Sharma was called in for the 19th over. He even got the wicket of Jacob Duffy in the final ball, closing the match.

Ishan Kishan has his day in the final
Ishan Kishan, who had a terrific domestic session for the Jharkhand team, was summoned for the T20 World Cup. He replaced the team's potential future captain, Shubman Gill, and played as a batter when Sanju Samson was not in the team. He finished the tournament with 317 runs, including three half centuries and a century.
In the final, he scored one of those half centuries in just 23 balls. He was dismissed for 54 runs in 25 balls, with four sixes and four boundaries. Not only that, he was just another glovesman, just without the gloves. He took three stunning catches of three important batters from New Zealand—Tim Siefert, Rachin Ravindra, and Daryl Mitchell.
Ishan Kishan recalls inspiring conversation with captain Surykumar Yadav
After India won the final by 96 runs, Ishan Kishan recalled a heartwarming conversation with Suryakumar Yadav. Before Ishan Kishan was even named in the squad, Ishan revealed that he got a text from Suryakumar Yadav asking "World Cup Jeetaoge?" Will you win us a World Cup?. In reply, Ishan asked, " Bharosa karoge?" (will you trust me?)
Surya said a yes in return. But Ishan took a screenshot of the chat for good and kept his words for the team.
