With the Easterschool holidays on the way, not to mention May half-term not long after, many parents will be looking for inexpensive staycationideas to keep the kids entertained.

In Devon, you can find a campsitethat has pitches from just £38.50 a night for two, yet offers guests access to a wide range of facilities included in the price. And guests who stay for more than two nights on any touring or camping pitch get free access to Woodlands Family Theme Park - the largest theme park in Devon.

Woodlands Caravan & Camping is set in the village of Blackawton, about a 20-minute drive from Totnes and close to Dartmoor National Park. Less than 15 minutes away is Blackpool Sands, a stunning shingle and sand cove that was named England’s best beachby Condé Nast Traveller in 2024.

As its name implies, Woodlands is surrounded by trees and greenery, with lots of countryside walks to enjoy nearby. The least expensive option is to bring your own tent and choose either a non-electric or electric pitch. Guests can also park a campervan or caravan on-site. There are also glamping pods, which sleep up to six, giving you all the fun bits of camping but with a proper bed at the end of a long day.

On-site, you'll find handy facilities including a shop and free showers, plus a takeaway open during weekends on peak dates. It also has a games room with arcades and more to enjoy, but perhaps the biggest attraction is just a short walk away.

Woodlands Family Theme Park is right next to the campsite and offers both indoor and outdoor things to do. It has several different themed zones, such as the Action Zone and Ninja Zone, each with a selection of rides for all ages. Day tickets can cost £23 in peak season, so if you camp and visit a couple of times, you could save a lot of money.

Thrill rides include the Sea Dragon Swing Ship and Vertigo, a spinning drop ride that gives you views across the park. There are even indoor rides such as the Trauma Tower, so it really is a year-round attraction. There are several play zones and soft play areas where kids can climb and let off steam, while the Toddlers Village is perfect for the youngest guests and even has a paddling pool in the summer.

Woodlands even has its own zoo and farm for guests to enjoy, with a range of farm animals, exotic reptiles, rabbits, and guinea pigs. Its Falconry Centre has beautiful birds of prey that you can see up close, and during the summer months, there are also falconry displays where you can see these amazing birds in action.

The park also has some seasonal events, such as the upcoming Egg-Stravaganza, just in time for Easter. This will include a Spring Hunt, Easter crafts, and character appearances on certain dates in the school holidays.
