As temperatures rise and daylight hours lengthen, thoughts naturally drift towards maximising the approaching spring sunshine. And what finer way to spend a weekend than beside the sea, particularly at one beach that's been praised as one of the finest to explore.
On the island of Tresco, Isles of Scilly in Cornwall, lies the stunning and isolated beach of Pentle Bay. It's celebrated for its crystal-clear turquoise waters that shimmer in the sunlight and its immaculate sugar-white sand, which could easily rival that discovered in the Caribbean.
The shallow, tranquil waters make it a perfect place for swimming during the warmer months or for kayaking around the island. Tresco Island measures just two and a half miles long and a mile wide, with Pentle Bay forming a small portion of the unspoilt sanctuary, featuring roughly half a mile of its curved, sandy coastline.

The beach is bordered by small dunes and grassland with Agapanthus flowers that blossom in spring and summer, producing a spectacular setting. Visitors can spend time strolling along the immaculate shores, taking in the peaceful paradise at one of the archipelago's most stunning beaches, reports the Express.
Pentle Bay is also part of a larger Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) area, which additionally includes several offshore islands, such as Merrick Island and Round Island. These have been recognised to play a vital role in the breeding seabird colonies - so it's a destination well worth visiting if you're a keen birdwatcher too!
Experts at GO Outdoors have identified Pentle Bay as one of the 'best beaches to visit this spring', following analysis of data from numerous UK coastlines. The Isles of Scilly beach secured fourth position, owing to its average spring temperature of approximately 10C, monthly rainfall of 59mm, daily sunshine of 7.2 hours and an outstanding 4.8 out of 5 rating on Google reviews.
One visitor described Pentle Bay as "one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen", expressing disbelief that it was located in the UK. Another labelled it as a "private gem" and a "mini paradise", while one holidaymaker called it a "beautiful beach" with the water an "unreal colour".
If you're eager to discover this slice of paradise this spring, you can board a boat from Penzance Harbour in Cornwall to Tresco Island. The voyage to St Mary's on Tresco Island lasts approximately two hours and 45 minutes, but throughout that time you'll enjoy magnificent coastal scenery before arriving at one of Britain's most stunning beaches.
Top 10 UK beaches to visit in spring Calum Jones, author and outdoor enthusiast at GO Outdoors, shared why he enjoys a spring beach excursion. He said: "As the days get longer and the weather warms up, spring is the perfect time to explore the stunning coastlines across the UK. From Druridge Bay Beach in the North East to Immeridge Bay in the South West, there are breathtaking beaches to discover all around the country.
"When planning your spring beach trip, keep in mind that British weather can still be unpredictable. Bring a waterproof jacket to stay dry in case of sudden showers, choose supportive, waterproof footwear for any slippery sand or rocks, and layer your clothing so you can easily adjust to changing temperatures.
"Sun protection is also important, even in spring. Apply a generous layer of suncream before you head out, and don't forget a cap and sunglasses to shield yourself from harmful UV rays."
