Cricket West Indies (CWI) has stepped in to arrange commercial flights for its men's team members stranded in India.

The decision comes after the charter flights organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC) were repeatedly delayed.

The squad has been stuck in India for over a week since their ICC T20 World Cup 2026 campaign ended.

The team awaited an ICC-arranged charter flight to carry both the West Indies and South Africa teams.

In an official press release, the CWI expressed its frustration over the delays in charter flight arrangements.

The board said, "In the interest of the well-being and safety of its players and support staff, Cricket West Indies advised the ICC that it was no longer prudent to continue waiting on the charter arrangements, which remain uncertain."

The CWI said it had made several attempts via the board, players, and other partners in collaboration with ICC to arrange commercial travel for the safe return of the squad.

The ICC had promised a private charter for the West Indies and South African cricket teams. However, the flight was canceled on Tuesday due to airspace clearance issues.

The two teams were set to share a charter flight to Johannesburg, with the Indies continuing their journey to Antigua from there.

The arrangement was made after both teams were stranded in India after the T20 World Cup amid the ongoing unrest in the Middle East.
