The film Thaai Kizhavi, featuring Radikaa Sarathkumar and produced by Sivakarthikeyan, has emerged as one of the most successful Tamil films of 2026. With a budget of just Rs 9 crore, it has impressively grossed Rs 50 crore at the box office. Directed by newcomer Sivakumar Murugesan, the film's success has taken many in the industry by surprise, prompting Radikaa to share that numerous producers reached out to distributors to confirm the impressive collection figures.

During a gathering celebrating the film's success, Radikaa noted that many well-known producers were astonished by the film's performance. She mentioned that several found it hard to accept that a film without a major male lead could achieve such remarkable box office results. Some producers even contacted distributors and theater owners to verify the accuracy of the success reports.

Radikaa also highlighted that the producers of Thaai Kizhavi, including Sivakarthikeyan and Sudhan Sundaram, made a groundbreaking decision by offering her a share of the film's profits in addition to her salary, a practice typically reserved for male stars. She described this move as historic and expressed hope that it would pave the way for improved pay structures within Tamil cinema. Additionally, she recalled advice from actor and politician Kamal Haasan prior to the film's release, who suggested that if the film did not perform well, the focus would solely be on her performance, but if it succeeded, the entire team would gain recognition.

Radikaa reflected on the evolution of cinema over the years, crediting visionary filmmakers like C V Sridhar, K Balachander, and her mentor Bharathiraja for their transformative impact on Tamil cinema.

Thaai Kizhavi tells the story of Pavunuthaayi, a strict and outspoken elderly woman whose family and village wish for her demise. However, when she falls gravely ill, her family embarks on a quest for a hidden treasure, ultimately realizing her true significance in their lives.

The film boasts a talented cast, including Singam Puli, Arul Doss, Bala Saravanan, Munishkanth, Ilavarasu, George Maryan, Muthukumar, and Raichal Rabecca. The technical team features composer Nivas K Prasanna, cinematographer Vivek Vijayakumar, and editor San Lokesh. Director Sivakumar Murugesan is set to work with Sivakarthikeyan again on a new project titled Seyon, which will be produced by Kamal Haasan under his banner, Raaj Kamal Films International.
