How crows were trained to perform brainy tasks

Researchers trained crows on controlled visual discrimination tasks such as pecking a distinct shape or target on a screen.
Neural recordings showed changes during learning that resemble patterns reported in humans.
In tricky pattern tests, crows performed at levels comparable to young children and outperformed some nonhuman primates in comparable experiments.

Bird brains are way smarter than we think!

Crows got better at using sticks as tools over time, just like people learning a new skill, with their brains shifting from "sensing" to "doing."
They could also pick the right tool for future tasks and solve multi-step puzzles.
Plus, crows showed off their ability to spot odd shapes (helpful for finding food) and use smart strategies while living in cities.
All this proves bird brains deserve way more respect than we've given them!
