Mohanlal , known for his on-screen versatility and naturalistic style, recently shared his philosophy on the actor-director relationship and why he avoids creative conflicts on set. Speaking on a podcast, the 'Patriot' actor said that he always sees himself as a "director’s actor." Mohanlal explained that he does not argue with directors or oppose their vision while shooting a film. According to the veteran National Award winning actor, cinema is a team effort, and respecting the director’s vision is crucial for a project's success.
Mohanlal believes differences should be discussed at the script stage
During a conversation with the My Government podcast, Mohanlal said that any differences in opinion should be discussed during the script stage itself. He explained that once the shooting begins, it becomes difficult to make major changes. “I am a director’s actor. I never oppose directors or get into arguments with them. If there are differences, they should be discussed when the script is being developed,” he said.
While Mohanlal follows direction, he added that he isn't passive and seeks clarification rather than sparking an argument if something feels off during filming.
