Ryanair has issued an alert warning to passengers who have booked flights, in what it has called an "important update".
The budget airline has implemented a significant change in recent months, with travellers being urged to follow a four-step process in order to be permitted to board their flights. Emails sent out to passengers read: "Important update for Ryanair passengers. Boarding passes are now fully digital. We no longer accept printed boarding passes. You need the Ryanair App to access your digital boarding pass."
Passengers must follow a four-step procedure. Firstly, you'll need to open or download the Ryanair app. Then you need to sign into your myRyanair account and locate your booking, before proceeding with the usual check-in process.
Finally, you can then locate your digital boarding pass within the app. Ryanair added: "It's that simple." The airline transitioned to digital boarding passes in November 2025.
At the time, Ryanair said the move was to "reduce costs, improve service, and benefit the environment", adding that it also makes travel "quicker, easier, and less stress". It also revealed that 90% of its passengers were already using digital boarding passes.
Any passenger who fails to check in online will be subject to an airport check-in fee. Ryanair further noted that all passengers will continue to receive email reminders to check-in online both 48 and 24 hours prior to their flight's scheduled departure.
