Ryanair and easyJet are renowned for budget-friendly flight prices - particularly if you're organised enough to book significantly ahead. However, if there's one area both carriers aren't celebrated for, it's their generous complimentary hand luggage provisions.

Despite Ryanair expanding its baggage allowance towards the end of last year, travellers are still working with a fairly restrictive free bag dimension. And, as regular flyers are painfully aware, if your bag exceeds the limit even marginally, you risk being stung with an unexpected fee at the airport.

Hardly the ideal beginning to a getaway. The simplest method to sidestep that dreaded check-in counter scenario?

Ensure your bag meets the requirements before you even step out the door. Fortunately, we've discovered one that complies with the baggage regulations for both carriers, and it's currently available at half price during the Amazon spring sale (referred to as Amazon Spring Deal Days), reports the Express.

That's where the expandable Hayayu bag from Amazon proves useful. Typically retailing at £23.99, the bag has been slashed by more than half in certain colours during the sale. At present, the strongest offers are on the grey and cream options.

The grey bag, normally £23.99, is currently just £11.98 - a 50% reduction. The cream shade is even more affordable. Usually £23.99, it's now merely £10.19, representing a saving of 56%.

The bag measures 40 x 28 x 20cm, rendering it precisely the correct dimensions for Ryanair's new luggage requirements. It also boasts the additional benefit of an expandable compartment that allows it to extend to satisfy easyJet's marginally more lenient specifications of 45 x 20 x 36cm.

However, we didn't simply want to accept the measurements on paper - we wanted to observe how it fared in practical circumstances. Given that Ryanair's regulations are the most stringent, we enlisted Dublin-based reporter Fran to trial the bag on one of their flights.

She's tested numerous bags over the years whilst regularly travelling between her home and London with Ryanair, and she considers theHayayu holdall her top choice so far, due to its versatility.

The standout feature, she noted, is the expandable compartment. "I imagine this will come in extremely handy on an upcoming holiday," she said.

According to existing customer reviews, the bag currently maintains a rating of 4.6 out of five stars on Amazon. One of the first aspects Fran appreciated was its fashionable look. It's available in a selection of colours - green, grey, white, blue, black and pink.

Fran opted for the pale pink version, though in retrospect she acknowledges the black might be the most sensible choice for keeping it appearing fresh whilst travelling.

The second element that grabbed her attention was precisely how generous it appeared. "When the bag arrived, I measured it because it looked much larger than the bags I had previously tested," she said.

"I was concerned that it might be too big, but I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it met Ryanair's requirements."

Despite conforming to the airline's compact measurements, Fran maintains the holdall is remarkably spacious. Her objective was to pack everything she required for an overnight work trip.

"Of course, I needed my laptop, which at 15.6" has caused me trouble with carry-on bags before, as they all seem to be designed for a 13.3" machine," she said. In fact, out of all the bags Fran tried, this was the only one that easily accommodated her slightly bigger laptop.

Alternatively, Dunelm's Constellation Cabin Holdall is now £12 and features a sleek, minimalist design that complies with standard cabin requirements. Similarly, Primark's Quilted Under Seat Cabin Bag is a viral favourite and just £12.
