Meghan Markle has been accused of highlighting the "tensions" surrounding the Sussex name in her latest Instagram post. To mark International Women's Day on March 8, Meghan shared a sweet picture of herself sitting on a rock at a beach next to her daughter, four-year-old Princess Lilibet.

Meghan captioned the picture: "For the woman she will one day be... Happy International Women's Day." She also credited her husband for capturing the adorable picture, referring to him as 'Papa Sussex' rather than 'H', as she often does.

PR expert Natalie Trice has said that the use of the Sussex name in her caption highlights Meghan's decision to use it since stepping back from royal duties.

Prince Harry, 41, and Meghan, 44, stepped back from royal life in early 2020, and have since settled into life in America. Since stepping back as working royals, Meghan and Harry have been criticised for using their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles.

She told the Daily Express: "Nicknames between partners are usually private, affectionate shorthand, but when you are part of the Royal Family, even estranged as they are, even casual language like so 'Papa Sussex' carries symbolic weight. The word 'Sussex' is a title tied to the monarchy, so using it publicly will always attract attention and scrutiny, and I am sure they know this.

"What we are seeing is less about the nickname itself and more about the ongoing tension around how the Sussex brand is used outside royal duties."

She then added: "For supporters, it feels like a natural way of referencing their family identity. For critics, it can look like another example of leaning on royal titles while operating independently from the institution.

"In reality, it is a small social media moment that has been amplified because the Sussexes remain one of the most closely watched and debated couples in the world."

Although she has made the decision not to show her children's faces, Lilibet's side profile was clearly seen in a post Meghan shared in honour of Valentine's Day last month. Although he wasn't in the picture, Meghan mentioned her son, six-year-old Prince Archie, in the caption.
