Los Angeles [US], March 16 (ANI): Tributes were paid to late filmmaker Rob Reiner at the 98th Academy Awards, with over a dozen actors remembering him on Sunday evening.
The actors, who worked alongside the late director on films like 'When Harry Met Sally', 'This Is Spinal Tap', 'Stand by Me', and 'The Princess Bride', appeared on the Oscars stage and paid their homage.
Among them was Reiner's longtime friend and collaborator Billy Crystal, who went on to list many of the filmmaker's projects.
"My friends, Rob's movies will last for lifetimes, because they were about what makes us laugh and cry, and what we aspire to be far better in his eyes: far kinder, far funnier, and far more human," Crystal said, before giving a shoutout to the filmmaker's marriage to late Michele Singer Reiner, as quoted by People.
"They were unstoppable. Rob and Michele Reiner became the driving force in the landmark decision for marriage equality across the United States," he added.
Crystal continued how Reiner's films impact millions across the world.
"To the millions who have enjoyed his films all these years, I want you to know, here and around the world, how many times Rob told me that it meant everything to him, that his work meant something to you -- and for us who had the privilege of working with and knowing him and loving him," he said.
Joining in, stars Demi Moore, Meg Ryan, John Cusack, Jerry O'Connell, Wil Wheaton, Kathy Bates, Annette Bening, Cary Elwes, Carol Kane, Kiefer Sutherland, and others, who appeared and stood silently together.
Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead at their Los Angeles home on December 14 last year. The couple had attended O'Brien's holiday gathering the night before, on December 13.
Rob Reiner was widely respected in Hollywood for his work as a filmmaker, actor and producer. Over the decades, he directed several acclaimed films and received an Oscar nomination as producer of the courtroom drama A Few Good Men. He also directed Misery, the film that earned actor Kathy Bates an Academy Award for Best Actress, according to People.
His work spanned multiple genres, from drama and romance to comedy and thriller, making him one of the most versatile filmmakers in Hollywood. (ANI)
