The Patna-based regional center of **Sports Authority of India (SAI)** successfully organized **Fit India Carnival 2026** on Sunday, March 15, 2026 (or some date nearby as per reports). The event witnessed a huge enthusiastic crowd to promote fitness, sports and healthy lifestyle under the national **Fit India Movement**.

**Bihar Sports Minister Shreyasi Singh** was the chief guest of the event, who was welcomed by SAI Patna Center head Someshwar Rao Chavan by presenting her a bouquet and shawl. Other dignitaries included M. Ramachandrudu (IAS, Director of Census), Ajay Kumar (President, Bihar Olympic Association), and Rakesh Acharya (Haridwar) as special guests.

The event started with a lively **Zumba** session in which participants of all age groups took part; After this the formal lighting of the lamp and the inauguration ceremony concluded. Minister Singh, addressing the gathering, said: “Fit India is not just a campaign, but a movement of people towards building a healthy and strong nation. We must make sports and physical activities an integral part of our daily lives and develop a culture of fitness. Initiatives like this play an important role in spreading awareness about fitness and motivating the youth to take up sports.”

He urged citizens to include basic fitness exercises in their daily routine to lead an active and healthy life.

Highlights of the event included spectacular displays of **Taekwondo**, **Wushu** and **Yoga** by the athletes, along with road shows organized by various sports associations to increase their visibility. The stalls and interactive exhibitions included a wide variety of activities: **Mallakhamba**, **Gymnastics**, **Atya-Patya**, **Skating**, **Basketball**, **Taekwondo**, **Wushu**, **Sepak Takra**, **Yogasana**, **Zumba**, and **Mini Gym**.

After the inauguration, the Minister visited various stalls, interacted with the athletes and participants, and encouraged them.

This carnival was in line with the broader ‘Fit India’ efforts, under which larger editions were also organized in New Delhi (grand closing ceremony at JLN Stadium), Patiala, Guwahati and other cities in the year 2026, with a special emphasis on community-based health and wellness.

The event held in Patna further reinforced the movement’s goal of promoting regular physical activity across the country, and motivating citizens—especially youth—to take up sports for long-term health benefits.
