Chennai: The Meteorological Centre has released its latest weather forecast for Tamil Nadu, predicting fluctuating temperature patterns and moderate rainfall in specific regions over the coming days. According to the bulletin, maximum temperatures across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are likely to be 2 degrees Celsius higher than normal, followed by a cooling trend later in the week.

The Meteorological Centre reports that a low-level atmospheric circulation prevails over the south-eastern Arabian Sea regions and the adjoining Lakshadweep areas. Additionally, a low-level atmospheric circulation extends from the southwestern Bay of Bengal regions to the Comorin Sea areas, while another circulation prevails over the northern coastal regions of Tamil Nadu. These systems are expected to influence weather patterns across the state.

Tamil Nadu rainfall forecast

Due to these atmospheric conditions, moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely to occur in a few isolated places across the Western Ghats districts and South Tamil Nadu today. The Centre further indicates that moderate rain may occur in the Delta districts and their adjoining areas tomorrow, followed by isolated showers in the Delta districts and South Tamil Nadu the day after tomorrow.

Temperature outlook

Regarding temperatures, the Meteorological Centre forecasts that maximum temperatures in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are likely to remain 2 degrees Celsius above normal in the immediate term. However, a significant shift is expected from tomorrow through Friday, during which maximum temperatures are projected to be 2 degrees Celsius below normal. This fluctuation marks a temporary respite from the rising heat that has been affecting parts of the state in recent weeks.
