WhatsApp Guest Chats: WhatsApp may soon introduce a feature that allows people without an account to chat with you. While there will be certain limitations, starting a conversation will become easier than ever before. Currently, this feature is in the testing phase and could be rolled out soon.
Have you ever wondered why it is necessary for the other person to also be on WhatsApp in order to use the service? Now, that rule might be about to change. WhatsApp is working on a new feature called "Guest Chats." With the help of this feature, you will be able to message even those individuals who do not have a WhatsApp account. According to a report by WABetaInfo, this feature is currently being tested with a select group of beta users on Android and iOS. Let's take a detailed look at what this feature entails.
What is the WhatsApp Guest Chats Feature?
To put it simply, with this feature, you will no longer need to ask someone to download WhatsApp or create an account. You simply send them an "Invite Link"—whether via SMS, email, or another app. As soon as the recipient clicks on that link, they will be directly connected to your chat on WhatsApp Web through their browser. This means they will be able to read and send messages without ever having to create an account.
Furthermore, WhatsApp will display these chats with a "Guest" tag, ensuring you are clearly aware that the other user is not a registered member. Best of all, these chats will remain protected by end-to-end encryption.
What Will Be the Limitations?
Guest Chats is currently being introduced as a temporary option; therefore, it will not include the full suite of WhatsApp features. This means that, for now, guest users will not be able to send photos, videos, documents, GIFs, stickers, or voice notes. Additionally, voice and video calling facilities will not be available in this mode. Group chats will also not be supported in Guest Mode.
If there is no activity in a chat for 10 days, it will automatically expire. In such a scenario, if you wish to converse again, you will need to generate a new invite link. Currently, this feature is in the testing phase. WhatsApp has not yet announced an official rollout date for it.
