New Delhi: X expected to launch a new feature to provide the user with stricter command on the responses to their posts. It is named Region Conversation Control, which allows any person to restrict people who could reply to questions upon individual locations where they reside. The option appeared in recent screenshots shared on the platform by analyst Aaron from MacRumors. It extends the existing reply settings and introduces geography into them.

It is the first glimpse of the tool which is still under development. Managing spam and off-topic responses has been a long-demanded feature of the user. The new option will allow them to choose precise regions rather than opening them to all or only followers.

The reason for the old “Who can reply?” screen has a new option at the bottom. It is marked ‘Regions’ with a location pin icon, and it includes the choices of Everyone, Your Subscribers, Accounts You Follow, Only Accounts You Mention and Verified Accounts. Clicking it will make a page fully devoted to filtering.

Choosing specific regions

There is a list of major areas with checkboxes. The user can tap North America, South America, Europe, East Asia, Australasia, Africa, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia or West Asia. The reply box will only be opened in checked areas. The reply can still be done by anyone referred in the post regardless of his or her location.

The update puts more power in the hands of posters. It may reduce mass responses of some nations and maintain discussions with selected groups. Numerous posters indicate that they desire such a form of control in order to alleviate noise. X is yet to announce a release date, although the leak shows that the feature is almost complete.
