Daughter. A big step is being taken towards improving road safety and traffic system in Bihar. In view of the increasing traffic pressure and frequent road accidents, the Road Construction Department has prepared a plan for widening of the major roads of the district. Under this scheme, a proposal to convert more than 100 kilometers of roads into double lanes has been sent to the government.
In fact, the number of vehicles on single lane roads in rural areas is increasing rapidly. The width of these roads is only 3.75 to 5 meters at many places, which leads to traffic jams and accidents when two big vehicles come face to face. In such a situation, the demand for road widening was arising for a long time.
More than 100 km of roads will be expanded
According to the proposal, 100.3 km of roads will be made double lane in this financial year. The width of these roads will be increased from 7 to 10 meters, which will make the traffic smooth and safe. Major roads which are proposed to be widened include:
Narkatiaganj-Balthar (19 km),
Ratwal-Chakhani-Rajavatiya (12 km),
Bagaha-Harnatand (17 km),
Chotkipatti-Rangalhi (14 km),
Ramnagar-Someshwar (17 km),
Ramnagar-Meghwal (12 km),
Sathi-Matiaria (9.3 km) route is included. All these roads are located in rural areas, where traffic pressure is continuously increasing. The department believes that widening of roads will reduce accidents significantly. Currently, due to narrow roads, accidents often occur during overtaking. After the construction of double lane, there will be enough space for vehicles, which will make the journey more safe.
Roads will be equipped with modern facilities
Under this scheme, not only road widening but other important facilities have also been taken care of. Concrete drains will be made for drainage along the roads, so that there will be no problem of water logging during rains. Besides, construction of footpath for pedestrians is also proposed, so that their safety can be ensured.
