Darts ace Ricky Evans has revealed an awkward wardrobe malfunction that saw him compete in a final without any underwear. 'Rapid Ricky' made it to the final of the Dutch Darts Championship in 2018, but had to go commando for a brief period.

Evans triumphed over Jan Dekker, Steve West, William James O'Connor, Joe Cullen and Ritchie Edhouse on his way to the final. He was eventually defeated 8-5 by Ian White, but luckily for him, his clothing mishap went unnoticed.

Now, Evans has shared his embarrassing tale in the Netherlands eight years ago with talkSPORT. The Kettering-born darts pro confessed his mortification at recounting the incident, which happened after a meal out the previous night.

He said: "This is the worst time to tell this story, but I'm gonna tell you it. I got to a final once on the European Tour in Maastricht.

"I played Ian White. I played with no pants on. I don't really wanna go into detail now, we had food and I didn't really help myself.

"I shouldn't have done what I did and I had no spares, so I took them off, chucked them in the bin, and I played the next three games without my boxers, and I don't know why I told you this. I'm regretting this right now."

Evans was then asked what he ate for it to happen. He replied: "I don't know. I remember driving home, and I think it might have been a McDonald's.

"I don't know what they were, but maybe the adrenaline or the pressure of winning a game came down and I thought it was safe, and it backfired."

Evans was then questioned about what it was like playing with no pants. The 35-year-old said: "It was brilliant, fantastic, freeing, a bit of air.

"I remember at the time, one of the games, the zip wasn't going up, and I thought 'this is just what I need'.

"I remember the players I beat as well. I'm sure I beat Joe Cullen or Willie O'Connor again."
