IPL Records: The start of IPL is near now. The first match of the 19th season of this colorful league will be played between defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 28 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Before the start of this league, we bring some interesting statistics for you every day.

In this sequence, today we have brought a list of 5 such world class players, who scored the most runs in IPL, but could never win the Orange Cap. Many big names are included in this list, and you may be shocked to know the name of the top player.

AB de Villiers

AB de Villiers, who started his IPL career with Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), is ranked fifth in this list. After playing the first three seasons for Delhi, he joined Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2011. Despite performing brilliantly for 14 seasons, de Villiers scored more than 5000 runs, but could never get the Orange Cap. He scored a total of 5162 runs in his IPL career.

ms dhoni

The name of former captain MS Dhoni, who made Chennai Super Kings champion five times, is also included in this list. Dhoni usually bats in the lower order, yet he has 5439 runs in his name. He many times led the team to victory in difficult situations, but the Orange Cap always remained away from him.

Suresh Raina

Suresh Raina, popularly known as ‘Mr. IPL’, is also a part of this list. He played more than 200 matches in his IPL career, but could not win the Orange Cap by scoring the most runs in any season. Raina scored 5528 runs in 205 matches and is counted among the most reliable batsmen in IPL history.

Shikhar Dhawan

The IPL career of Shikhar Dhawan, popularly known as ‘Gabbar’, has also been very brilliant. He scored runs consistently while playing for Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Punjab and was in the race for top run-scorers several times, but never won the Orange Cap. He definitely won the title with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016. Dhawan scored 6769 runs in 222 matches.

Rohit Sharma

The name of ‘Mumbai Cha Raja’ Rohit Sharma is the most surprising in this list. Despite scoring more than 7000 runs and leading Mumbai Indians to five titles, he never won the Orange Cap. He is the second highest run scorer in IPL history after Virat Kohli. Rohit has scored 7046 runs in 272 matches. Now that his career is in the last stages, it is expected that he will try to make up for this shortcoming by performing brilliantly this season.
