BBC Radio 1 presenter Dave Jamieson has passed away aged 76. Boom Radio confirmed the tragic news and led tributes writing: "We are so sad to share the news that our Sunday early presenter Dave Jamieson died in Spain this week. He was 76. He's been a valued member of the team from afar for five years." On their official website, they added: "Dave moved to live in Spain some years ago, in Nerja on southern Spain's Costa del Sol, although his many friends often went to visit. He is fondly remembered by them all, as he is by his listeners over the years, and we've received many touching messages."

The Edinburgh-born broadcaster began his radio career on hospital radio in his mid-teens before playing a part in the early days of BBC local radio, at its first station in Leicester. He was a guest on the Radio 1 Club and was on-air at BBC Scotland. During his career, Dave also appeared on Birmingham's BRMB and helped to launch both Radio Clyde in Glasgow and Coventry's Mercia Sound.

Fans rushed to social media to pay tribute to the late star as one penned: "Tragic news, like so many have said already, I loved his show on Sunday morning, filled with anecdotes and birthday trivia along with a great choice of music. He will be sadly missed. RIP Dave and thanks for the music."

A second echoed: "Sad news, remember listening to Dave on Radio Clyde and remember he read out a message I sent."

"I always enjoyed his show early on Sunday mornings. Dave's knowledge of artists and groups was phenomenal. I wondered why Fran Godfrey stood in last Sunday. This is very sad news indeed," added another.

As another heartbroken listener shared: " Oh no, that is so sad, he was part of my childhood in Birmingham on BRMB. My condolences to his family and Boom Radio. RIP Dave."

"Will miss his cheerful chatter on Sunday mornings. Thoughts with his family," a fifth penned.

Another fan echoed: "Very sad news, thoughts for his family, friends and all at Boom Radio, Rest in Peace Dave."

Beyond radio, Dave worked as an off-screen announcer for ATV and later Central, frequently lending his voice to schools programming.

After relocating to Spain, he continued to pursue his passion for radio, presenting programmes for local stations including Nerja Gold Radio whilst maintaining his connection to British audiences through Boom Radio.
