London, Mar 19: Barcelona delivered a ruthless attacking display to crush Newcastle United 7-2 and storm into the Champions League quarterfinals, underlining Spanish dominance over English clubs in this season’s competition.

After a tightly contested first leg that ended 1-1, the second leg at Camp Nou quickly turned into a high-scoring spectacle. Barcelona raced into an early lead through Raphinha before extending their advantage, only for Newcastle to respond twice through Anthony Elanga, keeping the contest alive.

However, the turning point came just before halftime when 18-year-old Lamine Yamal calmly converted a penalty to give Barcelona a 3-2 lead. From that moment, the Spanish side took complete control and never looked back.

The second half turned into a one-sided demolition. Fermín López capped off a flowing team move to extend the lead, before Robert Lewandowski struck twice with clinical finishing. Raphinha added his second goal to complete the rout, punishing defensive errors and sealing a dominant 7-2 victory.

The result highlights Barcelona’s formidable home form, with the team now winning eight consecutive matches at Camp Nou across all competitions, scoring at least three goals in each game.

Newcastle, despite moments of resistance, struggled defensively and were overwhelmed by Barcelona’s pace, movement, and finishing quality. Elanga’s two goals were a rare bright spot in an otherwise difficult night for the English side.

The win continues a strong run for Spanish clubs against Premier League opposition. Real Madrid had already eliminated Manchester City a day earlier, and Atletico Madrid remain in a strong position against Tottenham.

With Barcelona advancing in emphatic fashion, they now emerge as serious contenders for the title, carrying momentum, attacking depth, and confidence into the quarterfinal stage.
