Keely Hodgkinson has turned her focus towards the World Indoor Athletics Championship this weekend. The 24-year-old from Manchester is aiming to fill one of the remaining blanks in her already impressive athletics career in Kujawy Pomorze, Poland.

Hodgkinson is the reigning Olympic champion at 800m, having claimed gold at the 2024 Olympic Games. Her triumph in Paris propelled her career to new heights after initially claiming a silver medal as a teenager at Tokyo 2021.

However, she is yet to win the World Athletics Championships across three attempts, the latest of which ended with a bronze medal in Tokyo 2025. Now, with an exciting weekend ahead for the Team GB star, with the action beginning on Friday, Mirror Sport examines her life away from the athletics track.

Body transformation

Hodgkinson's hamstring tear in May 2025 reportedly stemmed from a lower back issue. She has since looked to avoid further fitness problems by adding cycling to her training programme.

That, combined with work in the gym, hasled to her body transformation through increased muscle mass. She told The Times: "I've gained a bit of muscle mass. I'm actually up to 60kg. In Paris, I was sitting at 54."

Her shift to cycling hasn't been completely straightforward, however, as she suffered multiple falls while learning to unclip. She admitted: "I probably fell off seven or eight times. But I've mastered it now. I just wanted to change things up a bit; get outside.

"It started on a holiday in LA in the off-season and then we introduced a bit of riding at our last training camp, in South Africa. I've now bought a bike and I'm on Zwift [an indoor cycling app] too. I'm moving soon and I plan to have a Zwift room in my new flat."

Net worth

Hodgkinson's net worth has grown substantially since her Olympic gold medal triumph in Paris 2024. Her wealth was estimated at approximately £250,000 before the Games.

She received a minimum of £39,000 from her gold medal alone, which is modest compared to the earnings from endorsement deals and the lucrative sponsorships she has landed since. Hodgkinson earns additional revenue through her high-profile partnerships with Nike, watch brand Omega, cosmetics firm Rimmel London, skincare label Avene and Vitality insurance, among others.

While her exact net worth remains undisclosed, it was previously predicted that she could earn up to £4million before the next Olympic Games. Her agent, Dale King-Clutterbuck, believes there is much more on the horizon.

He toldThe Mail prior to the Games: "We are already talking to some of the biggest brands in fashion who have shown an interest in Keely. But the colour of the medal really will determine that."

He added: "We need to keep making her more credible outside of sport. Then you're going to be able to look at those big French or Italian fashion houses that are going to prove Keely is really cool."

Athlete boyfriend

Hodgkinson's most recent known romantic relationship ended in January 2024, after which she described herself as happily single. Her ex-partner, also a runner, was based abroad and Hodgkinson explained the pressure the long-distance arrangement placed on their relationship.

"He lived in Texas for a bit, then in Italy, then London," she toldThe Times in October 2024. "There was always a distance and, because I do what I do and put that first, we could go weeks, months and not see each other.

"I'm not really interested in dating right now. I've never been on the apps. I like meeting people in real life."
