Fanny Utagushimaninde registered a record-breaking century on her T20I debut, scoring 111 not out off 65 balls against Ghana women's cricket team in Lagos during the Nigeria Invitational Women’s T20I Tournament on March 20, 2026.

 

Rwanda’s innings featured 28 extras, including 25 wides, narrowly trailing the second-highest individual contribution in the innings. The gap between the top score and the rest remained pronounced, with Utagushimaninde accounting for more than half the team’s runs. Her knock helped Rwanda women's cricket team post 210 for 3, with the next highest individual score being 32 not out.

 

In the chase, Ghana’s batting did not reach similar levels, finishing well short despite playing the full 20 overs. The margin of defeat underlined the imbalance in the contest, with the debut century effectively deciding the outcome early. The total proved more than sufficient, as Ghana managed 88 for 8 in response, resulting in a 122-run win.

Fanny Utagushimaninde's records in T20Is

 

Utagushimaninde’s innings overtook the previous highest score on women’s T20I debut, held by Karen Rolton, who had scored 96 not out against England in 2005. That record stood from one of the earliest matches in the format.

 

At 15 years and 223 days, the Rwanda batter also became the youngest centurion in women’s T20 Internationals, setting two benchmarks in a single innings. She also replaced Prosscovia Alako as the youngest centurion in women’s T20Is. Alako had reached the mark at 16 years and 233 days in 2019.

 

The updated list of youngest centurions includes Rwanda’s Gisele Ishimwe, Ireland’s Amy Hunter, and West Indies’ Deandra Dottin, placing Utagushimaninde at the top. The shift reflects how records in associate cricket continue to move without extended build-up.
