Lidl is giving customers the chance to win millions of pounds worth of vouchers during the Easter period. The budget supermarket is launching one of its biggest-ever giveaways with £5 million up for grabs in total, via the Lidl Plus app. Lidl said 100,000 customers can win £50 vouchers with additional prizes, such as product coupons and discounts, also available.

There will be a chance to win every day from Thursday, March 26, to Saturday, April 4. Lidl customers can unlock the 10 days of surprises through the app. All shoppers need to do is open the Lidl Plus app and tap and "crack" the virtual egg to reveal a new deal. Other prizes include £5 stretch spend coupons and free product coupons, and discounts on Easter favourites.

No purchase is required to play, coupons won must be activated before use, and the deal of the day will only be valid for a limited time.

The supermarket chain has also recently announced a major investment in its stores across the UK. Lidl has announced £43 million for refurbishing more than 70 of its existing stores. The upgrades include faster tills and larger freezers to expand its range.

Lidl also recently opened a slew of new stores. In addition to the 19 new locations at the beginning of the year, Lidl opened five more on February 19.

New stores opened in Sutton High Street, London, Salisbury, Walworth Road, London, Reading and Basildon, creating around 160 new jobs.

Lidl has over 1,000 stores in England, Scotland and Wales with over 35,000 employees.

Globally, it has 382,400 employees with around 12,600 stores and more than 230 logistics centres and warehouses in 31 countries.
