Kolkata, 20 March. IPL 2026 will start with a bang from March 28. Three-time champion Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane has expressed confidence in the strength of the team’s batting order. He believes that this time’s lineup is ready to irritate the opposition.

While interacting with the media along with head coach Abhishek Nair, assistant coach Shane Watson and mentor Dwayne Bravo, Rahane talked about the depth of the batting unit. He said, ‘Our batting group is in tremendous form this year. Most of the players, especially the foreign stars, are in great form after making waves in the World Cup. The coordination of the team will be worth seeing. We are very excited.

On the responsibility of captaincy, Rahane said calmly, ‘Every season brings new expectations and challenges. Maintaining positivity is my mantra. I have been leading KKR since last year, I am thankful to the franchise. I consider challenges as opportunities and move forward. I have been thinking this throughout my career, I will always give my best.

On the improvement front, Rahane stressed on maintaining the rhythm. ‘Looking for a strong start and consistency as a team. It’s a long tournament, no hurry. The mix of international and domestic players is a perfect fit for positive cricket. The management has full confidence.

All-rounders like Cameron Green bring flexibility. Rahane said, ‘There will be a detailed discussion on his role. Can both bat and bowl at any position. The right combination will be found through practice matches.

This time KKR seems to be a strong contender in the championship race.
