Now, there will be no need to search for a taxi after alighting at a railway station; the taxi will be waiting for you. To facilitate this, the Railways is agreeing with 'Bharat Taxi,' under which passengers will soon be able to book a taxi simultaneously with their train ticket. According to information received from the Ministry, this agreement will enable passengers to book a Bharat Taxi—along with their train ticket—directly through the Railways' 'Rail One' app in the near future. Preparations for this integration are currently underway.
How will taxi booking work via the app?
While booking a ticket on the Rail One app, you will be presented with an option for onward travel at your destination station. This option will feature a dedicated window for Bharat Taxi, ensuring that passengers can secure a taxi right at the station itself. Typically, passengers step out of the station after alighting from a train to book a taxi—either online or offline. However, with this new system, the booking for onward travel via Bharat Taxi will be completed simultaneously with the booking of the confirmed railway ticket.
The Railways' 'Super App'
Rail One functions as a 'Super App.' It was launched on July 1st of last year by the Union Minister for Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw. In less than eight months since its launch, the application has already been downloaded by over 20 million people. Developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), the app is witnessing rapid adoption and currently facilitates the booking of approximately 600,000 tickets daily.
Why is it being called a 'Super App'?
The standout feature of the Rail One app is that it has been designed as a unified digital gateway. It integrates various services—such as reserved and unreserved ticket bookings, platform tickets, train inquiries, and PNR status checks—into a single, seamless interface.
A senior official from the Ministry of Railways stated that the railway app will be integrated with Bharat Taxi to enhance the overall travel experience. This integration—being developed in collaboration with RailTel—aims to reduce the chaos often witnessed outside station premises, make passenger journeys more convenient, and provide a reliable, transparent option for 'last-mile' connectivity. A railway official stated that there are plans to implement this facility nationwide. However, as a pilot project, it will initially be implemented at New Delhi Railway Station. Subsequently, drawing lessons from the results obtained, it will be extended to other stations as well.
