Chandigarh: After taking Punjab Kings to the final in IPL 2025, their captain Shreyas Iyer wants to go one step further this time. Speaking at the launch of Punjab Kings’ new jersey, Iyer said, “Expectations are very high which is fun to have. I love challenges. But the important thing is to win whenever we come out on the field. I have my sights set on the trophy.”

Iyer has been out of the picture for the last few months, after getting injured during the Australia tour in October, he did not get a chance to play a single match in the home T20 series against New Zealand, while he also could not find a place in the T20 World Cup squad.

He said, “It is always challenging to come back after injury. I had lost seven kilos and it took a lot of hard work to regain the weight. But I like challenges. I am happy that I recovered from this phase and I am back here to represent the team.”

Punjab Kings will begin their IPL 2026 campaign against Gujarat Titans (GT) in New Chandigarh and local player Arshdeep Singh is determined to win all the matches at home this season.
Arshdeep said, “It is a matter of pride to be in a position to feel the pressure. It is really great when you get so much support from the audience. When people cheer for you, you feel like there are 30 thousand people running with you. We will try our best to win all the matches at home.”
